Publishing Procedure

New Forestry Mechanisation (NFM) is a peer-reviewed journal publishing scientific and professional articles, on the basis of theoretical or empirical knowledge, and basic or applied research in different areas of forest engineering.

The main elements of the editorial process and publishing procedure in the NFM Journal are:

NFM publishes original scientific papers, review papers, preliminary communications, and professional papers. Before preparing the manuscript please read the journal’s ‘Aims and Scope‘ and ‘Publication Policy’ to have an overview of the content and scope of the journal, and to assess whether your paper is appropriate for NFM.

All submitted papers have to be prepared in accordance with Guidelines for Authors. By following these instructions, editorial and review process will be considerably easier and faster.

All types of papers, together with all attachments (tables, graphs, pictures…) should take up no more than 7 printed pages in the journal. That is approximately 5500 words. For each non-textual attachment (table or figure), the maximum number of words should be reduced by 250.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at Manuscript Submission by registering and logging in to this website (editorial application for electronic submission is currently under construction), or by e-mailing article to the Editorial Office of NFM.

Each submitted article, before entering review process, is subjected to the Initial Editorial Evaluation concerning its compliance with the journal’s scope, category, structure, originality, extent, technical setup, quality of content and language, and other essential criteria.

If submitted article doesn’t fit the scope of the journal, it will be rejected, i.e. it will be returned to the author for corrections and improvements if it isn’t prepared in accordance with the Guidelines for Authors.

Papers are reviewed by at least two reviewers, experts in the field of the manuscript’s topic. Peer review process is double-blind, where authors and reviewers are mutually unknown.

Reviewers, selected by the Editorial Bord, independently evaluate received papers using editorial instructions and review forms. The paper is accepted for publishing if both reviews are positive. In the case of one positive and one negative review Editorial Board reserves the right to send the article to third review, outcome of which determines the acceptance of paper for publishing. Final decision on acceptance for pripublishing, in the case of one positive and one negative review, is done by Editorial Board also possibly without the third review.

Accepted papers are published in both printed and online version of NFM Journal.

After accepting and preparing final format, and before issuing print version, articles that will be published in the next issue of NFM, are displayed online in the section Early View.

The Open Access policy of the journal provides free access to full-text articles.

Copyright on any article is retained by the author(s). Authors grant NFM Journal a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher. Authors give any third party the right to use the article freely as long as its original authors and citation details are identified. The article and any associated published material are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0): anyone is free to copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt the work as long as the original author is credited.
